Jackson Council advances three rental-property ordinances

NJ JACKSON — Jackson Council unanimously advances three rental-property ordinances on first reading. Ordinance 2026-01 requires property managers to hold New Jersey real estate licenses and register annually; Ordinance 2026-02 updates landlord registration to require proof of property manager compliance and establishes daily fines for uncompleted inspections; Ordinance 2026-03 restores property maintenance penalty structures with escalating fines for repeat violations. Councilman Christopher Pollak supported all three, citing concerns about out-of-town investors and high-occupancy rentals affecting neighborhood quality.
All three ordinances grew from rental-housing roundtable discussions. The Council also heard a concept plan for a $4 million to $5 million Camp Joy recreation facility rehabilitation, which remains in early stages pending public feedback and will require a public vote before approval.
